FOREST LAKE, MN (May 5, 2026) – Velosity, a leading medical device contract manufacturing organization, has once again been recognized for its exceptional commitment to workplace safety and health at the 2026 Minnesota Safety and Health Conference, hosted by the Minnesota Safety Council.
Velosity received three prestigious Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards, reflecting the company’s ongoing dedication to protecting employees and promoting a strong safety culture.
Velosity’s Brooklyn Park location earned the Platinum Achievement Award, recognizing an incidence rate better than the 90th percentile of both the state and national averages for its industry and representing the program’s highest level of recognition.
The Forest Lake facility received the Gold Achievement Award, achieving an incidence rate better than the 75th percentile, while the Forest Lake CMD site earned the Silver Achievement Award, reflecting an incidence rate above the 50th percentile of state and national industry averages.
“These awards reflect the dedication of our entire team to maintaining a safe, proactive workplace,” said Dave Hemink, CEO of Velosity. “Safety is fundamental to how we operate, and it’s encouraging to see the progress our teams continue to make year after year. Advancing to the Platinum level at Brooklyn Park and improving performance at our other locations demonstrates the impact of our employees’ commitment to looking out for one another.”
“Since joining Velosity a year ago, I’ve been impressed by the growth of all our facilities in building a strong safety culture,” said Greg Zemple, EHS Manager at Velosity. “Leadership’s focus on making safety a top priority, combined with employee engagement at every level, has made it clear that protecting our team is central to everything we do.”
Since 1934, the Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards program has recognized Minnesota employers demonstrating outstanding safety performance. Companies are evaluated based on injury data compared to industry benchmarks and the effectiveness of their safety programs.
Velosity’s safety initiatives emphasize employee involvement, continuous improvement, and proactive risk prevention. Safety committees work closely with staff to refine protocols, incorporate feedback, and implement preventive measures that support a healthy workplace.
“Our safety culture is built on accountability, collaboration, and constant improvement,” Hemink added. “These recognitions reinforce our commitment to ensuring every employee goes home safe every day.”
